Best Birthday Gift

Jayson had another busy day yesterday.  After a restful night, he was energize and awake for a few hours in the morning.  As you saw from the videos we posted yesterday, he was wide-eyed and more talkative.

When I came in to his room yesterday, he was still asleep. When he woke up, he greeted me with a "Happy Birthday, Mom." and a hug.  My family was still complete and Jayson was improving. Thank you, Lord for your generosity and blessings.

My Ohana, My Blessing
Best Birthday Gift!

Thank you MSI friends!
Jayson's day was very busy.  In the morning, his occupational therapist, John, came by with gadgets to help him with simple tasks such as eating and putting on his socks.  He also did a little exercise with Jayson to help him build his strength.  In the afternoon, his physical therapists came by and got him walking with his walker.  He was able to stand himself up with little assistance and walk towards the window then back to the recliner.  After sitting for a few minutes on the recliner he stood up and headed back to his bed.  This short walk did tire him out a bit, but his PTs were impressed with the improvements Jayson showed from the previous session.

Finally outdoors!
In the afternoon, Jayson was able to go outside his room again.  This time, his trip was longer and he was able to go outside for the first time in over a month.  As his two nurses rolled him out of PICU, he was followed by his grandparents, Henry & I.  We all squeezed into the elevator and headed to the main floor and out the building.  Jayson enjoyed his first breath of fresh air in over a month and soaked in the sunshine. The slight breeze went through his hair, at least the few strands he had left. Unfortunately, my camera was not working properly and I was unable to videotape this trip.  Luckily, his nurse Kristen, had her phone so she took some pictures for us.
Jayson's nurses from 2 East - Pediatric Ward.
Before heading back to his room in PICU, we passed by the Pediatric Ward, 2 East, to visit many of the nurses who have been taking care of him these past 2 years. They are Jayson's angels here on earth.
